Manitowoc is expanding its boom insert offering with the new Wide Boom Plus kit for its MLC300 lattice-boom crawler crane.
The MLC300 AND MLC300 VPC-MAX® are the choice crane picks for maintenance work on multiple wind farm projects across the US and Canada. And now, the New Wide Boom Insert extended reach and capacity radically expands the use of the MLC300 for renewable energy jobs, particularly maintenance and assembly of wind turbines.
The new inserts will give crane operators extra reach by lengthening their booms to provide a maximum boom length of 429.8 ft (131 m) and with a tip height of 452.2 ft with the extended upper boom points when used in combination with the VPC-MAX®. In addition to the longer boom lengths, the extra 30% capacity allows contractors to respond to the trend for taller, heavier wind turbines while continuing to enjoy the benefits of operating smaller cranes.

The Wide Boom Insert brings additional height and strong charts that stretch the amount of work that can be performed with a 386 USt (350 t) crawler crane. The MLC300 VPC Max with new boom insert allows this 330-ton crane to outperform comparable 900-ton all-terrain cranes in the field.
