Cianbro Corporation just erected a new Manitowoc MLC650, 716 U.S. ton lattice boom crawler crane, with VPC-MAX attachment. The machine, equipped with 140 m (459.3 ft) of boom, is currently located on a barge in Charles City, VA assisting in the dismantling of two large transmission towers.
The new Manitowoc MLC650 features a Variable Position Counterweight (VPC) that allows the crane’s counterweight to be positioned automatically while still offering an unmatched level of versatility and capability. In addition to the VPC, the VPC-MAX attachments increase the capacity, boom and jib combination lengths. The Crane Control System is also a newly-added feature that aids the operator in a quick and easy set-up.
